La historia de un amor prohibido entre Lee Hwon, rey de la dinastía Joseon (1392-1910), y Wol, una mujer chamán (estrato social más bajo de la época). Sin embargo, Wol es en realidad Heo Yeon Woo, una noble que fue la prometida de Lee Hwon cuando éstos eran adolescentes. Pero, debido a intrigas de palacio e intereses privados, ellos no llegaron a casarse y todos la creyeron muerta.
